For Artists
Development Programs
Development Programs offers a range of opportunities designed to support Indigenous theatre artists at various stages of their careers. These include mentorship through Rising Tides, funding via Recommender Grants, New Pathways initiatives, the National Queer & Trans Playwriting Unit, Weesageechak, Animikiig Creators Unit, and Indigenous Producer Training Program, fostering skill-building, creation, and professional growth.
Script Submissions
Native Earth Performing Arts welcomes unsolicited script submissions year-round from Indigenous theatre creators. Submit a bio or writing resume, a development history outline, and a statement of interest. While they strive to respond promptly, exact response times vary. For festival consideration, follow Weesageechak submission guidelines. Contact joelle@nativeearth.ca for details and support on next steps.
Resources
We offer a curated collection of materials and references to support Indigenous performing artists. It includes Indigenous Accent Resources for language guidance, a Native-Land territories list to acknowledge ancestral lands, and various support resources connecting artists to funding, mentorship, and community initiatives. These tools enhance cultural context, education, and professional development for creative practitioners.
