Recommender Grants for Theatre Creators 26/27
We are happy to announce that we are once again accepting applications from Ontario-based emerging and established theatre and multidisciplinary Indigenous creators, artists, and collectives to develop new work.
Deadline: Friday, Jan 08 2027 at 1pm EST
The Recommender Grants for Theatre Creators program provides funding for Ontario-based artists to develop new theatrical work. Through Native Earth, Indigenous creators can apply for support that encourages experimentation and early-stage development. Applications are reviewed based on artistic merit, originality, and alignment with Indigenous storytelling and community values.
Application Submission
Complete and submit an application in Nova, OAC’s online application system. Before applying, you must create or update your profile in Nova.
Priorities
Native Earth prioritizes the funding of Indigenous artists. Culturally diverse artists are also encouraged to apply.Submission Instructions
You will be asked to submit the following items:
• C.V. (mandatory)
• Script Sample (up to 5 pages) or Audio/Visual sample
Artists are strongly encouraged to review the Ontario Arts Council’s detailed description with guidelines.

Applications must be submitted through Nova, OAC’s online grant application system
All applicants will be notified by OAC through their Nova account
Native Earth traditionally recommended grants between $1,000 and $2,000. Only one submission per individual/collective will be accepted.
