The 2-Spirit Cabaret is back for its 9th edition! Join Native Earth Performing Arts and Buddies to celebrate the strength, beauty, and talent of queer and 2-Spirit Indigenous people.

Come by before the show for a community reception with food and music by DJ KIMIWAN.

The 2-Spirit Cabaret will feature performances by drag performer Faux Rocious (Red River Métis), comedian Meg MacKay (Mi’kma’ki), multidisciplinary artist Jay ‘Nickel-Black’ Northcott, storyteller Dillan Meighan-Chiblow (Ojibwe), and burlesque superstar Madame Ode’Miin Surprise (Anishinaabe Kwe).

Kai Potts, Host

Kairyn (Kai) Potts (he/him) is proudly Nakota Sioux from Treaty 6 Territory (Paul Band FN and the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation). He is a proud Two-Spirit person and Indigenous content creator. As a former board member for 2Spirits in Motion and Youth Suicide Prevention Team representative, he is a passionate advocate who works to improve indigenous youth’s lives (particularly queer youth and youth in the child and family services system). He was named to Tik Tok’s Global Discover List in 2022 as one of the platform’s top 50 change makers

Kai now makes his home in beautiful Tkaronto, where he works as a writer, actor, model, TV host. He continues his youth advocacy through public speaking, content creation, frontline workshops and community events. He is the host for Snapchat’s Canada’s First Original Series “Reclaimed” and has appeared in the APTN Series “7th GEN.”

Kai co-founded the Indigenous gaming organization Neechi Clan in 2022. Kai is an avid gamer and streamer on Twitch and Tiktok who aims to create representation and opportunities for Indigenous youth in the gaming/content creation world. His creative projects allow him to utilize online platforms to share his voice, culture, makeup, lifestyle and fashion. His audience is highly engaged and shares his passions for humour, gaming and Indigenous social issues.

KIMIWAN, DJ

KIMIWAN is an Indigenous DJ, model, and fashion stylist based in Toronto. She made her debut in 2021 ‘Indigenous Grooves,’ which celebrates Indigenous women and non-binary artists in Toronto, along with sets at TD Music Hall and Toronto Pride, and a feature in Vogue Magazine. She skillfully uses her platform to amplify Indigenous voices and merge cultural heritage with modern creativity, leaving a lasting impact in both the music and fashion industries.

Faux Rocious, Performer

Faux Rocious is a 2-Spirit, Red River Métis artist from Thunder Bay, Ontario. Faux has been performing drag for 14 years, in communities all over Northwestern Ontario. With creativity at the forefront of their drag, Faux exhibits unrelenting joy as a rebellious act. Their vibrant spirit transforms every moment into a celebration, inviting audiences to join the creative revolution.

Meg MacKay, Performer

Meg is a comedian and local delight originally from Mi’kma’ki. As a comedian they’ve performed on CBC a bunch, Just for Laughs, and as a tv writer they’ve written for projects including Don’t Even, Baroness von Sketch, and Acting Good.

Jay ‘Nickel-Black’ Northcott, Performer
Jay (They/Them) is a multidisciplinary artist, director, performer, producer, and former Big Brother Canada contestant.

Central to Jay’s creative and artistic practice is their advocacy for marginalize
communities including Palestinian, Indigenous, Black, Racialized, Queer, Trans
people and beyond.
The art they create is a window into their world, soul, values, and imagination.
Art is freedom and freedom breathes life. Art is also dumb, which i love.

Dillan Meighan Chiblow, Performer
Dillan is an Ojibwe storyteller from Garden River First Nation. He holds a Masters degree in Musical Theatre Performance from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Dillan was the Syd & Shirley Banks prize recipient (2020). They were nominated for a Dora award for Outstanding performance by an Individual for playing Hummingbird in Bentboy at YPT. They were apart of Native Earths 40 seeds, won the Aubrey and Marla Dan fund for new musicals, both for The 7 Fires, and won the National Center of New Musical (Theatre Aquarius) search for new Canadian Musicals.

The creator …. of IndigiBabes Burlesque.
Madame Ode’Miin Surprise is the mother of Babes, an auntie, artist, and educator.
Madame is passionate about changing narratives of Indigenous, sexuality, and sensuality, all while creating space to celebrate Indigenous Joy!
She is her ancestors’ wildest dreams and will soon be yours!
